FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU TAKES LEGAL STAND AGAINST GOVERNMENT, DENIED TRAVEL TO SOUTH KOREA PEACE SUMMIT

Former President Edgar Lungu, represented by his legal team led by Makebi Zulu, has taken legal action by filing a case in the Lusaka High Court on September 16, 2023.

He is challenging the Zambian government’s decision to deny him permission to travel to South Korea, where he had been invited as a guest speaker at a peace summit.

Court documents obtained by Platinum Media cite Director General of the Department of Immigration as the official who prevented his exit from Zambia in this matter.

The documents further revealed that his travel denial was based on the condition that he could only depart with approval from the Cabinet Office.

It’s worth noting that just a week ago, the government had also declined former President Edgar Lungu’s request to seek medical treatment in South Africa, citing financial constraints.
